The heart of Tico’s Auto Repair is William Salas (Tico), it’s  owner and operator.

Tico has been running his own auto repair shop in Chicago since 1974. Having graduated in 1971 from auto mechanic school in Costa Rica, he immediately started his craft in Costa Rica until he came to Chicago and was given an opportunity to partner with another mechanic and open up a 2 car garage.

Having provided great service with a personal touch, he decided to venture out on his own and opened his own shop in 1981 on Belmont and Paulina.

As his business grew, so did his need to grow his facility in order to serve his clients to the best of his abilities.

In 1985, he moved his auto repair shop to Fullerton and St. Louis until he finally purchased the building where his current shop is located on 2844 N Kedzie in Chicago in 1991.

As you can see, Tico’s dedication to providing exceptional auto repair services combined with a friendly and helpful approach has helped him steadily grow while improving his capacity to serve his customers.

The Man Behind The Business

Aside from running his auto repair shop, Tico has been married for 27 years to his wife Idalia and has 4 amazing and driven children. His eldest daughter Jessica works for the State of Illinois while daugher Aline is a registered nurse.

His eldest son is a musical producer and travels around the world with his music and  supporting other musicians. His son Cristian is in grade school and is on track to be successful just like his parents.
